Operation 'Saving The Masterpiece"

Before reading further, i want to thank my friend Marceylus Tabias, a classmate of mine who spent his time drawing this wonderful cartoon reflecting my work as a.. insane photographer..hahah. i think i will be posting more and more of his works trying to introduce his talents to everyone in our blog society... This time, its not only about task, hiring or the payments... man,i tell you, this is about something worth every penny in my family tree's wallet. In remembrance on the lost of my Dad, i'm volunteering to do this work since, its actually one of my dads will to see this precious photo of my Great-Grand-Father preserved, touch-up, and remembered. i still remember the day he approach me and handed me that valuable family treasure (which i actually forgot to edit not untill today!!! shame on me!)....
well, all that is needed was a scanner and, adobe photoshop installed in your computer, the rest is you and your inteligence. Retouching is simple, yet if its on someone careless and without caution in his work and skills, this masterpiece can turn disastroussss.... as you see, for some who isn't keen to photoshop, a photo like this could be "unsavable", but in the right hands, this is a priceless task that requires full attention.
all togather i took around 1hour scanning and processing the picture, and this is the result... if you know "healling tool" in photoshop, then do know (if ur new to Photoshop) that it comes really handy in situation like this...
the most important aspect that i have to preserve in the photo is not only the uneven color distribution but also the soft details on the photo. As you might be aware of, this photo could date back more that half century and even more, remembering that there are no better photography tool compared to SLR in those days, we can consider that the photographer of this photograph is probably an expert in.. those antique photography tools... remember the flash burst that catch fire if not well done... pluss the black box and the counting 1..2....3......blash!!! im sure great-grandpa would never wonder how his picture would turn so precious in his great grandsons hands... even in the eyes of his.... great-great-great-infinity childrens to come..... The day might come, when we will pass this life, and all people coould remember is our only face and deeds that once stayed alive in this world. Like this photo, i believe lots of his story has been, faded by time... but a photograph? well.... you know what im saying....

Zoom In While snapping

This is a shoot technique quite simple to do if you have a DSLR, the effect can simply be done using a zoom lense. such as an 25-70mm focal zoom lens or, any other lenses that allows you to zoom... (you can actually use your compact camera too, i'll show you later how..)
first, get the subject to be still, check the shutter speed to be less than-1/60. the best option is to set it on Shutter Priority mode or 'Tv" mode. and then, focus... while you click the button, at the same time you turn the lens... i mean the change the focal length... lets say youre sooming at 70mm, then decrease the focal length 10 or 20...
erm... if you are using a digital compact which doesnt allow you to zoom using your hands in turning the lens... just move your camera forward about 1-2 feet or when clicking to snap, make sure held the camera close to yourself, and move the camera out while snaping... this will create a moving effect...
there's actually lots of other factors to consider, such as enough lightings, your hand-not shaking, the use of flash to freeze the subject... etc... Yet, if you want me to write it all for you in one simple post, it would be hard. my advice... get your info in the net... its wide open for you... Picture of my friend- Danny- in our Hostel room...

Hey, Im Falling!

Hey, what do you think about this... erm, you can hardly see me in that suite except in College. We have just finnished our "Appointing Of Duties Ceremony" (kinda direct translation for "watikah perlantikan"), and now were killing our time with some crazy pose... You think we are happy to receive the post? Crazy hell, i prefer to stay low profiled and keep unnoticed... however they still sellected me... i was in the same post for TWO years in a row (ahahaha...)..... hey, i'm falling!!!!! not exactly falling down... its just that i felt to tired, burdened with some stressfull life, and so on... im falling!!!.... should i say it agai.... duh.... theres another two years to move on till i step out from this cage... before then... i must survive...
Photos taken with my Pentax K10D, asked my friend Carlven to take a shoot... with some guiding, i think he can be my photographer assistant...

On Duty-Gaya Street

Chinese New Year was a life full of activities and duties, from family to my freelance work as a photographer, it really has taken some of my sleeping time and force it to be spent outdoors... My task this time is to shoot at Gaya Street, one of Sabah famous sunday-spot...

located exactly in the heart of Kota Kinabalu-Capital City of Sabah, one can find and spend their mornings wondering and looking at various types of suveniers welcoming vissitors to take them home.

While the some chinese prefer to stay at home, others decide to go for a view of what Gaya Street has to offer them for that day. Open only during weekends or sundays- this tourist destination is something everyone shouldnt miss... here are some of the shoots i took from the scene.

A tale OF Black Dog

This is a story of a crazy little machine which my imaginary mind call it as "black dog", he has been there living in garage of some creative and genious people who dedicate their lives with oil and steel... Man, thanks to them, this machine pet is born... to rock you over anywhere...

The world inside is totally diffrent from those high end vehicles, they are built from scrap and metals that you could never think of turning out into such an amazing machine. (erm, is that too much?)...well, for some who doesnt have any idea on what ugly vehicles will turn out, mind to tune to DRTV channel 734 at Astro and see for yourself how they built these machine...

bla...bla...bla... to cut it short and frankly speaking, im actually a fan of this sport, having one at home but never had the time to maintain since im busy with other things too. Yet, the dream will always be part of my dream... surelly one day its gonna be made reall...

hopefully, when its time, i'll be packing my camera and backpack kit, to shoot something more... adventurous and, full of excitement... someday
