Kuruak- as we call it

Finally, i was trying to upload this pictures using a broadband mobile network with GPRS connection but failed a few times. I only manage to upload it this morning. Thats the main problem when living far away from town :( I found this bird while on the way back home. I accidentally hit it while driving. The bird was actually trying to cross the road when a giant-silver-metal-moving creature cought it on traffic... i think it probably was the worst scenario in its life, but amazingly it stood up and begin limping towards the bushes.
Shooting with a pentax body and smc-da 50-200mm zoom lens, i manage to get a few shoots of her. I never thought the quality would be this sharp. DOF-a.k.a Depth Of Field was also well distributed.

Kesian this Kuruak-as my native people name it. Scientifically, i should refer to Jollence for some names. I never have been into birds before, but guess i will venture into wildlife photography just after i get a good telephoto lens. Most probably Canon (ow,is this a hint on my next camera model....)

Fanny's 23rd Bday

Happy Bday to my dearest, she's 23 this year and its my real pleasure to be able to celebrate that day togather with her friends & family. She's celebrating her birthday togather with her cousin Lip who is 21 this year. Venue was in Luyang Perdana on the 19th of Julai. Their Bday was actualy on the 17th (anyone same as them???) but due to some problems they have to skip two days... well its no big deal actually, as long as they get to celebrate it right?

Here are some previews of the event... i wasn't whole time photographying but still manage to get a few good moments... Happy Bday Phane....
A beautiful view at dawn, shutter speen set low at about 1/10 and handheld with full expertise
Oh, and Jonathan Bong a friend-the editor of Breeze Magazine who lives nearby was also present...
Hey... am i not the one who should be doing that?

Selling Pentax K10D with Full accesories

I have been with Pentax since my first encounter in the SLR world. My first SLR use was a Pentax MV1 which i still value untill now. Never have i regreted from choosing a Pentax system before.

I am now offering anyone who wants to venture into the digital SLR world something "GOOD". I've been with my Pentax K10D since the last 8 months. Everything satisfy me a lot, from the color rendering, software, functionality, accesibility... i can say Pentax really did built a damn good solid camera unbeatable in its class. Name it Nikon D80,D60, Canon 400D, Sony Alpha100, or either Olympus.....xxxxxx as a pro-amateur entry level camera during its era, there's really something "big" about K10D that you cant find it anywhere else.

Ofcourse i am not exagerating this, the fact is clear and witnessed by everyone who put their hands on this camera... no doubt at all!

SO WHY AM I SELLING IT?

First, Pentax is still a growing brand, it still has few more years to go before competing with the "big two". Even Sony and Olympus, though offering a solid pro-entry DSLR, but it still couldn't match either with D3 of Nikon or 1Ds MarkIII of Canon.

Although Pentax has announced its collaboration with the famous Hoya Company, a huge lens manufacturer in the world, but their collaboration is still in the begining and they still have years of research and development before being able to produce a few practical lens and body for proffesional users.

SO WHICH OF THE BIG TWO AM I VENtURING to...

Some suggest i start with Nikon, others persuade me stroll along Canon. Whatever my choices are, there are a few points that i am considering. First, i need a fast autofocus-an efficient one, with a consistent and accurate focusing. Second, a less noise image processing system. This points to either Canon 40D or Nikon D300. But thats still in the choice... perhaps Nikon D700!? or perhaps the new improvement of Canon 5D... i'll just cross fingers, wait and see....

SO WHATS MY SELLING PRICE?

Pentax K10D kit -RM28xx (with 18-55mm kitlens)
Pentax AF540FGZ wireless flash -RM12xx
Sigma 28-300mm F3.5-6.3 -RM17xx
Sigma 28-105mm F2.8 -RM9xx
Tamron 28-300mm F3.5-6.3 -RM15xx
Tamron 100-300 -RM7xx
Pentax Extra Batery - RM2xx

1. Stofen Omnibounce for Pentax Flash2. RM8x
8GB Sandisk SDHC Class II Memory card RM2xx
2GB Kingston SD memory card RM4x

When i pluss everything up, it will cost more than RM6000, after considering the how long i've been using it, i cut down to RM5000, and the last price stated is RM48xx... Phew...

In the meantime, this will be my camera, and after i own any of the two Big Brands and if nobody offers up, it will be my backup camera... phew..... guess im not going to sell it anyway?!

Disgusting Lalat Over Me

Waiting is something i really feel bored doing. It was 1.20pm last friday and i was outside of campus having my lunch while waiting for the bus from Tawau to KK. I stop by at a restaurant to fill my tummy and with dying hunger ordered for a glass of Milo Ping and Nasi Ayam with nasi tambah...

The restaurant service was quite fast, i only waited for about less than 10 minutes and my dish arived, fuh... lega oh when i finally can eat!... suddenly a lalat come buzzing and landed on my nasi... what the!)(*^$.. and soon, another lalat came...

Before long, my table was crowded with flying Lalats here and there, probably wanting me to pitty them and share some.. Argh... i did manage to finish my dish but not really clean lah, i usually am a clean eater... but then in this case... Lalats are overwhelming.
I just cant eat comfortably... i know i shud have move over other tables, but i didn't... Food was wasted (though im full oso la), drinks was left and so sayang coz i usually finnish everything... and my money... used to pay for food+pluss bonus order.. the lalat~

Ringo & Maria's Wedding

This is another wedding of a friend of mine last Sunday. I wasn't the official photographer for their wedding, however I did took a few shoots of their wedding. The matrimony took place at Kota Kinabalu, Likas Seventh-day Adventist Church and the reception at KDCA Hall in penampang.
This wasn't the wedding gown weared by the bride... however i just took the shoot as if it were;-)

The "Soulmates" as the call their group, presented a few nice songs for us audience, notice that the groom was also there... He is actually one of the singer-members... hurm.... For your information, all the best-man consisted of his friends-The Soulmates members.

These were the two official photographers of the event- Mr Dony (with his Nikon) and mr Abran (with his Canon)... and Myself-photographying them with my PENTAX.... yeeha... three brands in one event huh!

March out! the Best-Man (not bat man) with their ... couples.... the bride's maid... Oh, and Ms Fanny with her edited-soft-pose...

Presenting to you, the newly Wed-Ringo and Maria...
The two cousins singing duet... lovely voice despite the... urm... i shouldn't say it... heheheh

I know i should have aranged these photos by sequence... here's a preview of some candid moments.
One of the Brides-maid doing her make up. The Choc box has nothing to do with the whole make-up process... i'm just adding something to prevent the photo from looking dull...
Oh, i forgot, and the kids folding their hands while doing the prayer...
The Brides maid... waiting for their queen...

Edited it in B&W and leaving the special ones on stage in color... some sort of contrast works here..

Oh, and again.. this wasn't the bride... its her "maid" getting some touch up... i wished it was the bride... but they were in two different locations..
Some close ups... The Man of the whole event.... without him, something will go wrong....

Havoc in Ulu Bendul, N9

I was not posting anything in my blog from 22-28 june last week was due to my absence in this online community. I have to attend the 2008 Malaysian wide Teaching Institute Uniform units Camporee (direct translation) also known as KAGUM Perkhemahan Unit Berunifom Institut-institut Perguruan Malaysia which was held in Hutan Lipur Ulu Bendul, Negeri Sembilan.

Before further reading, i would like to give acknowledgements to the photo's i'm posting which belongs to Aziliana of Institut Perguruan Gaya who is the outhor of all the pictures. She owns a Nikon DSLR and 90% of the pictures were taken by her. I am impressed on how she manage to capture moments. Sorry azie if you are reading this, but i like your style. Talking with her gave me some insight on what my other people think about photography. She says she wants to learn from me, she did... but i too learned something from her... hehehehe...

Good facial expresion portrayed by this woman, captured by with care from a Nikonian.

Winston with his bleeding head. Does it look real? The make up master really did a good job.
Aziliana or also known as azi/adexx

One of the unforgetable moments was the disaster control drill (is it called so?). We had around 20 acting rescuers, 20 acting victims and other acting officials... all played their part in making this act/drill a succes. What happened was we had to act as if there was an earthquake and landslide that caused injuries to a group of villagers. The Red Crescent Society was called for help.

We have to run few meters and report ourself on duty. There were victims placed unknown by the "director" with various kind of injuries. We had to search for them. There were also actors acting as family members who played their role is disturbing our rescue operation. I can tell you that although it was just an act, but it was damn tiring. My role was the head of the stretcher bearer team. Man, i tell you, if such disaster happens in your place... you really need a good and systematic approach in saving lives.

What i can tell is we have to ignore emotional influence and start our job by tagging victims according to the seriousnes of their injuries. Red as the most serious, black/ white as dead... either way, we had to purge our knowledge and skills in first aid... and it was tiring.

BBSM members, spot me if you can
One of the cool shoots by azi, did a bit of editing to make the effect stand out....
Bullet shots or? does it seems real?

They really were good actors during that day.

1st Radio Contact in Kuala Lumpur

I have been to Kuala Lumpur a few times and this is my first time bring along with my portable Ham Radio. I am a licensed Radio Amateur user with the callsign 9W6TCO which is also called as "Nine Whiskey Six Tango Charlie Oscar". Ever heard of it? i mean this radio amateur stuff? clicking http://abang9m2sy.blogspot.com might help you if you don't.

Well, as i say, this was my first time doing radio contacts/chats/QSO in the peninsular. To do this, you will have to own a portable radio like the one in my hand. We normally use frequencies/QRG slightly higher than the ones we use to hear in our car radio. for example if your radio tuned stations is on Mix.fm.. lets say 88.9... we radio amateur often go above it at 147.789hertz for example.

One page posting will not be enough to tell you more about it, but to cut it short, i manage to make contact with a radio amateur station whose location is in petaling Jaya. His callsign is 9W2MTC also known as Mr Marcus Lau. It really was my pleasure to meet him. Although my stay in KL was just overnight, but i still manage to travel and meet him for such a short time.
