Still Life Photography

This shoot was taken with my kitlens 18-55mm at 3.5 wide aperture opening. it seems like it works quite well in blurring the subject, but i believe steping down from 2.8 to 1.4 can increase depth of field well enough.(picture taken at SDA Retreat Centre Kundasang, without tripod, macro lens or reflector)

Shoots like this are really easy (for the amateur and pro levels) since the subject-flowers aren't moving. But when theres strong wind then you might need to wait till it stills. The most important consideration is not your lens, but how you plan to compose the picture. Applying the rule of third will work sometimes, but still it doesn't apply to all photo's. Therefore you need to be patient and imaginative to create something great.
