Canon Shangrila Tanjung Aru Workshop Part 2

It's been a delay, I should have posted this a few days just after the workshop but unfortunately I was Busy. Eventhough its holiday now, but I'm still busy with other stuf... holiday has its own busy schedule-although different then non holiday sessions. Anyway, here's some preview of what i got that day. Not that much to share, but at least its worth a story without words... (urm, perhaps with little explaination)
Some ask, "ei frisco, whats that blur2 brown2 on the left down corner? Well its actually someones hand blocking my views, it turned out good for a soft effect. Books call it as accidental frame-blocking effect.
I know she's hot... but i wasn't shooting her most of the time. Thats why you'll see less of her here..
This is the same sequence as the first one, this time its perfect framing with no blocking...
Models do have great body ain't they? Even so I still prefer slight addition of... body mass... huargh3
Phew, photographers were like... "I wana shoot... I wana shoot...?" haiya.... (but don't know what they are shooting at.... hehehehe)

Phew.. well, here are some of the shoots.. there are lots of others actually, will share with you later. I have to post little as i'm tired and my PC is DAMN slow...
(all shoots where taken at Shangrila Tanjung Aru Resort)

5D MkII on Debate at Photo Malaysia

for those who are photography enthusiast, find out this link and check out what people think about the new 5D MkII. I am really fascinated yet a bit skeptical of their comments...

Check this out: http://www.photomalaysia.com/forums/showthread.php?t=59671

Canon 5D MarkII is OUT!!!!

Yea Yea.. My last night's nightmare of painful gastric has totally lost with the rumours of the announced Canon 5D MarkII (shouldn't be rumours anymore)... This babe is what I've been waiting all the while. hahaha, FYI last night i really had a hard time with my tummy, ate about 8 pills of gastric reliever but no effect (well at least it does a bit!). Sleep at 11pm and awake at 3.10am... what a disaster.. then drive to school at 6.20am (find out my tyres are flat), drove 36km for 30minutes (usually 25minutes) and with lazy eyes do my work... argh... OOPS,wasn't i supposed to share with you about the Canon 5D M3? sorry... (just to share)

Anyway the new babe is very powerfull. Among the key features are 1st- 21MP (WOW) Sensor!!! 2nd- HD Video RECORDING!!! 3rd- ISO as low as 50 and as high as 25600!!!  4th? DIGIC 4 (latest version) of camera processor is being used... meaning? faster and better image processing.

Speaking about High ISO, well i don't think it can match D700 and D3 at all. I have strong faith in Nikon's noise control. But in terms of Color reproduction, i can say Canon's 1Ds MkIII is good. the late 5D has really given excellent result in landscape, so i believe 5D MkIII promises the same.

yet when i get through the spec at Canon 5D mk III, i found out that it only burst an amount of 3.9 (approximately 4) burst per second. I think its due to the large resolution processing of 21MP that makes it slow. But clockwise, i was made known (by attending the yesterdays Canon's seminar) that it can burst more than 6bps when shooting with a 10mp resolution. Well whatever it is, i think Canon has something good here.

So my decision now? well, i love Nikon's D700 and D3 as it has excellent Noise control which is VERY-VERY good for event shoots and critical low light shooting. But if i'm planning for nature and landscape, i think Canon has much better option. I strongly believe (IMHO) that Nikon now is good at photojournalism and Canon is good at landscape, nature and portrait... (at least at the DLSR option)...

So for now, i haven't really decided yet since my budget is still low, but i think i will get either one of it by November... So stay tuned...

1Ds MkIII on test with Fanny

I was lucky enough to attend the Canon Seminar Workshop held at Shangrila Tanjung Aru Resort yesterday- 21/September. There were lots of "high End camera" on display that really got my attention. Among them was the Canon 1Ds Mark III which was on display. It was really a brilliant marketing strategy plan by Canon to get photographers attention.

When i lay my hand on the expensive 1Ds MkIII, my heart beat faster... I was actually holding a Ferari version of DSLR (medium format is another different class). The function and control wasn't that hard to opperate. I am used to Pentax camera (most user friendly camera) yet i'm still able to handle and make fast understanding of the camera's important functions (though not all). I also managed to use 15mm L F2.8 and 16-35mm L F2.8... Both Camera and lens would cost you around RM30-35K (wargh!!) My verdict? the result are GREAT!! very nice Bokeh. Here are some of the shoots which i took with Fanny as model...

Among other Bloggers who was present during the seminar was Josie , Pam, CrazieSexaCool.... bla3... didn't get to know the others though, but still it was an interesting experience to be there with lots of photographers...

Bokeh?

Bokeh is the opposite of sharpness in lens tech. I love Bokeh, one can identify the quality of the lens used in the picture when you see the Bokeh itself. I cannot really express it here since i need a quality lens and a cheap lens to compare the result. But let me direct to you to THIS.

At the moment, i'm sharing to you a photo of my brother using an OLD-OLD Pentax Manual Focus lens (this is why i choose Pentax at the first place). its 50mm F1.4 lens.. DUDe, thats F1.4!!! despite having to focus manually, i like its solid, alluminium lens which reflects high quality lens of the past... yet it has some chromatic aberration issue since its a SLR 35Film lens and not Digital, eventhough, its still great to produce GREAT BOKEH... Check this out...
Anyway... a f2.8 is good enough for Bokeh'ing your shoot. Will consider a 50mm f1.4 and 85mm f1.8 in the future.. and the 70-200mm f0.0 (as my friend anticipate?) surely it will be expensive.. maybe other times....

Searching for Bridal Models this Raya

At last my wireless flash trigger has arrived. It is something for a must to be included in my photography equiptments in order for me to add creativity to my works. I'm now half way available for pre-wedding photoshooting. But i have to report that the PRE-Wedding service won't be open officially untill i purchase my latest DSLR kit which would cost something not ordinary photography enthusiast could afford. Not to show off, but i'm really having a hard time counting on budgets and fund allocations for it. Pray that it will be available for November... with a discount ofcourse.
After a desperate will to test the newly arrived wireless flash triger unit, i headed with my friend Carlven out without any makeups or perfect dress, our mission is just to see how the flash works. With a clear solid imaginary of how the shoot would turn out, we became really anxious and excited to test it out.
IMHO, the shoot such as this would be totally great if the background is a seascape, or cityscape as if it were a seascape, than you can get the sunset lines behind you which would be wonderfully great view. And if it were a sunset city scape, then the evening lights of the city would be fascinating and adds a marvelous effect to the whole composition. Well i couldn't test it here, but i'm sure this is enough to share with everyone what FriscoD Photography WOrks is currently up to now.
A great model? well i couldnt say more than satisfying, but i like Carlvens sort of modeling gimick. Perhaps if his GF is arround it would be great?! Well to end, i want to give a first great offer... did i say great offer? yeeps, whosoever wants to try a photosession with me in the eve, probable location in any of the beaches around Kota Kinabalu, then please feel free to contact me. Possible throughout Raya holiday. You don't need to pay expensively... you will be my first lucky couple... and i must say, this is only available for 1 couple (or if i'm generous enough that day, 2...hurm.... we'll see then)...
So guys... spread this.. anybody who wants this offer may try contact me... CHEERS

Malaysia Independance Day Celebration

16th September is almost approaching while i post this, to Malaysians, its a historical date where the country is formed. Ppeople are speculating on many things including of rumours of a new government institution during that date. Well i don't really bother a lot about  politics, but hey, the merdeka (independance day) celebration is worth a "jalan-jalan" (walk around) with you camera. Here's a bit of what i shoot that day. Didn't really give my best in shooting though but its worth sharing with you.
The fire extinguisher from the fire department, reminds me of the famous cartoon animation- the GhostBuster... I wonder if i break that down, ghost will come out.. (WINKS~)
Ahh.. i love these machines. Wish i could afforn one. The Sabah Four Wheel Drive community is here to show off... Way to go guys...
He must got excited while holding the disarmed machine gun. I wonder what model that was.. looks like the weapon found in Counter Strike computer games...
what if one of them were mine... i could have...
I dont know what these badges mean but guess its worth his effort in the club. Bravo to you pal...

Why My Prints Looks DULL?

Before, when i first print my digital pictures over the ordinary computer printer, i was already satisfied with the simple printing which actually has many dots here and there, resolution is unclear. Now with the improvement of much higher printing resolution count evolving from the older ones, we can get better prints with just a printer of the price RM200 and bellow.

(Epson R2400, one of epsons best A3 printers available. Photo courtesy of http://trustedreviews.com/)

Yet a friend of mine contacted me yesterday, she was really disapointed with the prints made by a certain studio during her recent UMS convocation which- didn't print the colors "LIVELY". You see, there's some problem when you bring your photo's to a certain printshop and print them using their machines. For sometimes i found certain printshop produce good quality color prints, but after time, as i continue to print in certain shops, colors start to feel pale ad look dull. Thats what just happen to my friends printed pictures during her graduation day. The pictures aren't just so live" as they expect.

Part of the problem may be due to the Monitor & Printer caliberation. You may see your pictures on the monitor really COOL, but later when you print, it turns out different than what you see. Its because your monitor has no "caliberation" with the printer, thus your monitor differs color differently and your printer differently.

WHAT I'M Using?

Well as a pro-amateur in the photography world, i always caliberate my monitor, i have one for use with both my laptop and desktop too. Really easy to use, just plug in on your monitor and click the software, and you will see amazing result in minutes.
(Monitor caliberator, the Spyder2Express is one of the cheapest tools available)
I'm currently planning to purchase a medium format printer, so for all who wants their prints to be exclusive at highest quality, i will print my pictures for them. The printer will also be able to produce Stunning Black & White effect with color fade and water resistant quality. But do expect the price to be slightly increased... don't worry, it'll be reasonable.
